6/4/2023 0 Comments Super mario sunshine 64 music![]() ![]() The addition of many NPCs adds to this as well. They're great, too, but I always personally preferred the connected world aspect as opposed to separated locations that exist in a bubble, so to speak. ![]() No matter which location you're in, you'll see a handful of the other areas off in the distance and that honestly makes the world feel much more alive than the other Mario games. For starters, the entire world is interconnected. Many people view it as the worst 3D Mario sandbox games, but I love it. However, the game is still a lot of fun as a whole. It's one thing to be challenging, but when that "challenge" comes from wonky movement and a horrible camera, that kind of sours the experience a bit. I don't know if I've just gotten used to the more modern games' feel to them, or if it's more the fact that I'm an adult with less time to spend retrying levels over and over again. This is even more noticeable on the levels where you don't have FLUDD. It's designed with FLUDD in mind, so often when platforming Mario feels very floaty and slippery which makes for some very frustrating deaths. I revisited this game via the 3D All Stars collection on Switch, and sadly it felt just like the original version. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I had many frustrations with it along the way. I do find it interesting how this Mario makes you use the moving curve jump more than anyother game. The level design is decent and I felt it got better the more it went on, and the Harbour level being the worst designed of the bunch due it's overly vertical nature of it. ![]() ![]() I didn't find Isle Delfino as bad as some make it out to be but that is because I never got a game over due to the above mentioned save states. The game's camera can also be a big issue at times, and it really got fixed with Mario Galaxy. With FLUDD, I do like the more varied moveset you get but trying to play with the pressure sensitive R button was a pain in the ass, and aiming it was also a pain in the ass since using third person, or over the shoulder wasn't as accurate as the game wants you to be. The last space level felt like you needed luck to complete due to the fact it's hard to tell where you will actually get thrown. The space levels without FLUDD are so difficuly and I don't even think I can do them without save states. FLUDD is cool but the parts where the game takes it away from you tend to be ungodly frustrating due to the fact that you have been using it so much and then the game randomly decides to take it away from you and then the unpolished nature of the platforming really starts to rear it's ugly head. a proper remaster/remake would be able to do this game justice, but i doubt that will happen anytime soonġ3h PlayedI prefer it over Super Mario 64 but only because you can control the camera with the right stick. despite all my critiques, i've had a ton of fun with this game, it has imo the best hub in all of the 3d marios, but sadly the game's rushed with lots of barely working mechanics which take away much of the enjoyment. i collected around 160 blue coins and i doubt i will go back and try to collect the rest of them, as it's very difficult to remember which ones youve gotten and which ones youre still missing. the game is filled with obnoxious things and weird desing choices, like the watermelon mission, waiting for three seperate boats to try the possibly worst mission in the game, or getting booted out of levels when collecting the 100 coin shine, not even sm64 did that. controls in the underwater sections are really bad, but the boat controls are ridiculously shit - drunk driving is easier (and more fun) than this. things like the lilypad or the pachinko machine are bugged as hell. 12h 22m Playedthe controls are really obnoxious in tiny or cramped spaces. ![]()
